How do the PEM Process Works?
The Nafion film from Dupont, which is the conductive membrane is coated with catalysts so that it can a Membrane Electrode Assembly or MEA.
This is known by this name because the metal catalyst is fixed on both the sides of the membrane that becomes the positive as well as negative electrodes in the cell. The membrane material that is used itself is a Teflon-based plastic that boasts sulfonic acid groups which are attached to the Teflon structure.
